September 19th-23rd

I can't believe it's the third week of September, but here we are and from the looks outside, Fall is coming soon!

Below you will find the subjects for this week's classes (3's and 4/5's are on different letters, so make sure and find which one your child is on).

Also, please scroll down to view a schedule of when we could use help in the classroom. I will have a sign up sheet out on the front desk if you would like to come in and help.

Three's Class-

Letter B!
This week we will be learning about Butterflies, Brown Bears, and all sorts of animals that God made!

Ideas for this week at home-

Build with blocks
Go outside and play some ball
See if you can find a butterfly
Go on a Google search for brown bears
Eat Blueberries and watch Bob the Builder

Four and Five's Class-

Letter E!
This week we will be learning all about Elephants!

Our bible verse for the week is-
Even a child is known by his doings. Proverbs 20:11

(you can also practice our letter A verse from last week- All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God- Romans 3:23)

Ideas for this week at home-
Go to the zoo and see real elephants
Eat enchiladas while watched Enchanted or Emporer's New Groove.
Do a Google search for Elephants, what kinds are there?

Classroom Help-

Wednesdays and Fridays each week- we need a helper to do one on one reading help with some of our kids. 9:30-10:00

Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays- we need helpers to do small office type things. Printing, laminating, organizing etc. Times are flexible, just let us know what works for you.

Any day you'd like to come in a few minutes early to class and read the kids a book from home that is special to you, feel free! Just let us know ahead of time so they can be ready for you- 11:30-11:45.

A is for Apple!

Our theme this week at Doodlebug is APPLES! Aa is for apple and apples are the perfect way to jump into fall -even if it is 100 degrees outside ;).

Here are some fun activities you can do at home to incorporate our theme into your week-

Family Fun Night: Have some Apples, Ants on a log, or Apricot pork chops with apple pie and watch one of these movies-
Aladdin, Aristocats, Alice in Wonderland, or Alvin and the Chipmunks.

Go on an A hunt: Search your house for things that start with A (try to find items with the short a sound). Put them in a bag and bring them to school, we would love to see them!

Make your own Applesauce (crockpot recipe):
This makes enough for 4 people. If you would like to freeze or can, use more apples.

--4 large apples, skinned ,cored, and cut in quarters

--juice from 1 lemon

--1/2 tsp cinnamon

--1 tsp vanilla

--1 T brown sugar

--1/4 cup water

Skin, core, and cut your apples into quarters.
Plop the pieces into your crockpot. Add the juice from the lemon, and the water. Pour in the vanilla (I used imitation--we were out of the good stuff), and add the cinnamon and brown sugar.

Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours. When the apples are super tender, mash with a potato masher or large fork.
