November Newsletter

Sorry that I didn't get a newsletter out this month, but hopefully this e-version will make up for it ;)

Weather Information-

In case of inclement weather, our school follows the Camas School District's weather decisions.
If there is a snow day and they are closed, we are also closed (if needed, we will make up school
days in June).

Please note- If there is a late start, then we do not have school that day

Letters for the Month-

This week is letter K
Next week there is no letter because we are having our Thanksgiving Celebrations
The week of the 29th - Dec. 3 is letter L

Please Remember there is no school next week on Wed the 24th- Friday the 26th

Picture Orders are due by Tuesday November 23rd.
You can either bring your order into school or if it's easier, email me and send a check (I will give you my address at the time of the email).

Things to Work on at Home-

We are discussing Creation this month, ask your child about all of the great things God made.

Other areas we are working on are obedience and using nice words. I often tell the children to "use your words" when they are feeling upset or frustrated about something. So often, their first reaction to a situation is to hit, throw, yell or cry and using our words instead is part of maturing and becoming a friend that others want to be around.

Another thing we are working on is using words like "oh my goodness" or "wow" instead of "oh my god". Since we are a Christian preschool, we want to make sure we are always glorifying God in our words. This is something that can be practiced at home... tell your kids to help you as well. If you or them hear someone in the house say "oh my god", be silly and think of something else that is funny to say instead. I use "good gravy" in the classroom, but there are tons of other funny ways to show excitement and wonder about something :)

Rhyme Time for The 4/5's Class

Your kids are learning this rhyme during our Reading Group each day.
It would be great if you could practice this with them at home as well (all letter in / /s are short/soft sounds, not hard)-

A is the first vowel we will say,
/a/ is the short vowel sound of A.

E is the next vowel don't you see,
/e/ is the short vowel sound of E.

I is the third vowel that goes by,
/i/ is the short vowel sound of I.

O is the fourth vowel that I know,
/o/ is the short vowel sound of O.

U is the fifth vowel, that is true,
/u/ is the short vowel sound of U.

Great Idea for Your Kids

Do you have an iphone? (I don't, but most of the people I know, do... so I am hoping you do too ;)

Take a look at this app-

It's only 99cents and perfect for your kids to practice their letters. I love it... and if you have an iphone, I know your kids would love it too!

Threes Class

Don't feel left out if your child isn't a three year old, you four and five year old parents will get their own special post next week sometime, but for today, it's all about the threes!

Did you know that we had a fire engine visit two weeks ago?
Thanks to our friend Wyatt, whose dad is a Firefighter (and thanks to Wyatt's mom for setting the whole thing up and letting me borrow her camera), we had a GREAT time learning all about the Camas Fire Department!
